| Lorraine
Gemmiti:
Lorraine
has been with the ABTA pack since 2001. She is in our Belleville Store
in Eastern ONT. Lorraine is also seen at many Petcetera events and is
in the store helping out as much as she can. She is a very dedicated trainer
and a wonderful addition to our growing Canadian staff.
Lorraine has owned and shown dogs for more than 15 years and considers
them a very wonderful part of her life. She is a breeder of Parson Russell
Terriers, and the membership secretary of the Association of Parson Russell
Terrier Fanciers (A.P.R.T.F.) Lorraine lives in Belleville Ontario Canada.
She takes her dog Amber (shown in picture) to all of her classes at Petcetera
where she demonstrates obedience. If you are ever in the area, please
come and visit us.
Sarah
Anderson:
Sarah
has been with the ABTA pack since 1999. She teaches 5 to 7 obedience classes
a week at three different stores, including advanced obedience with a
focus on the Canine Good Citizen Test. Sarah is very active in training
and enjoys doing volunteer training and fostering at local Los Angeles
County shelters, as well as for several pure and mixed breed dog rescue
groups. Her focus is on the dogs labeled "aggressive" or "unadoptable".
By working with these dogs, Sarah gives them a chance at a second life.
Some of the groups she works with include Boxer Rescue LA, Save the Dalmatians
of Southern California, Noah's Bark, Animals Rule and Peninsula Pet League.
Sarah is accompanied by two demo dogs that follow her everywhere. Both
her dogs are rescue dogs. Although Sarah has trained both her dogs to
demo basic and advanced commands, they each have their own areas of specialization.
Dakota, a five-year-old lab/GSP mix does Flyball demos and agility, while
Dodger, a three-year-old boxer, specializes in trick seminars and socialization
exercises with dog aggressive dogs.
Working out of the southern Los Angeles area has given Sarah many opportunities
to do what she loves, train dogs and teach other people how to create
and improve the bond between themselves and their pets.
Pam
Wolf:
Pam
has been with the ABTA pack since 1998. Pam's education includes a BS
in biology from VA Tech with an emphasis on behavior and psychology. Her
studies have included studying wolf behavior at Wolf Park, as well as
attending seminars for herding, tracking, police and narcotics, conformation
and other areas of dogs/training and instructing. She is currently a member
of the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors and has been
a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. She is also an AKC Herding
judge.
She has competed with
dogs in many areas of training, including obedience competition, tracking,
herding and agility. She has specialized in retraining dogs which have
quit due to harsh training methods and working with behavior problems.
She believes that a thorough understanding of training in various disciplines
gives her a better understanding of what problems and challenges owners
may face when training their own dogs.
Currently she is training
her rough collie, Shady for competition in obedience, agility and hoping
to move on soon to freestyle obedience. She is also starting to compete
with her border collie, Dair in herding.
Debra
Raymond:
Debbie
began her professional dog training career with ABTA in 1993 as a group
trainer at Petco. Debbie quickly excelled in her skills and shortly thereafter
passed all the certification requirements and became a private instructor.
She now works with
ABTA full time doing both group and private lessons. Debbie is a believer
in building a strong relationship with the managers and keeping her stores
stocked with supplies at all times. Her efforts pay off with consistently
full classes. Petco managers share that Debbie is always available to
answer customer questions about the program and she frequently attends
employee meetings to help educate new Petco sales associates. In fact,
all the employees at Petco know her well for providing pizza and other
goodies to show her appreciation for a job well done. Debbie Raymond has
proven to be quite an asset to ABTA's dog training program. She is always
available to substitute classes for other trainers on a moments notice,
and her eagerness to participate in special events to promote obedience
is very appreciated by everyone at ABTA and Petco. Debbie is truly dedicated
to her career as a professional dog trainer and stands out as a shining
star in our company.
Abby
Harrison:
Abby
has been with the ABTA pack since 1999 . She had two untrained dogs and
she needed to have them trained. Befriending the teacher, Abby went through
an apprentice program and started training at two Petcos. Another store
asked her to also teach for them as well. This worked out well as she
was able to have students switch nights to different stores if something
came up the night of their class. That kind of flexibility was helpful
in a city as large as Houston.
In addition to teaching
the basic commands and problem solving, Abby adds many basics helpful
to a new pet owner such as needing to know where the nearest animal emergency
clinic is and reference texts like a primer on animal first aid. She has
a tricks and costume night as well as trying to end every class with a
game to remind students this is supposed to be fun.
She is owned by Zoe
(a white boxer) and another dog (a lab mix) and two cats. She does volunteer
work teaching dogs basic commands at a local animal shelter and has had
some of her dog students show up in her classes later (after all, the
owners have to get trained).
Sue
Carlton:
Sue
has been a member of the ABTA pack since 1998 and has been training dogs
professionally for over eleven years. During that time she has trained
over 750 dogs through three Petco stores. Sue has over 25 years working
with the public. She has considerable knowledge in training/behavior modification
programs to help dogs that are on the borderline to return to the pound.
Sue is well-known and recognized by other professional trainers in obedience
and tracking. She instructs ABC Apprentices from Animal Behavior College
in CA; teaching them client/dog bonding relationship through training
in a group class environment, as well as, teaching them practical positive
obedience techniques and behavior modification theory. Sue owns Rottweilers
that she trains and titles in Schutzhund and AKC. Her female Rottweiler
was named One of the Top 10 working Rottweilers across the USA for 2002
from the American Rottweiler Club. Yearly she attends numerous seminars
from highly recognized individuals on all aspects of training/behaviors.
Believing that continuing education is paramount in a successful training
program. Sue holds office as DVG club Training Director and Secretary
of the Susquehanna River Hundesport Klub (Schutzhund club). She is the
Training Director for Noah's Ark Dog Training Program. Sue is a member
of DVG America, Susquehanna River Hundesport Klub, and a AKC Canine Good
Citizen Evaluator. Her Certifications are through A.B.T.A., Inc. as Private
Instructor and Group Class Instructor/Behavior Modification.
